Gunnels is a liar and a thief. He sold me a "lifetime" hosting plan, then constantly sent me renewal notices warning that my domain would be shut off. (this after purchasing a "lifetime" hosting plan - guess he meant the "lifetime" of a fruitfly) Then he tried to call his $100/year extortion a "fee" that wasn't covered by the "lifetime" hosting.
When I refused to pay it, he cut off my domains - blocking me from being able to move the one registered with him, which I subsequently lost to a speculator - and stopped answering my e-mails.
Gunnels is a piece of garbage. He better hope he never meets me face-to-face, because I'll spit right in his. He's a prime example of what's wrong with this country - way too many crooked "businessmen" who are protected by the system.
Oh, and Gunnels also charged a $99 "fee" to my credit card without approval. I had to file a claim with VISA to get it back.
Stay away from him - he WILL rip you off without so much as a second thought.
Wow, this takes me back, i was hosting with Steve and super.nu in 1999-2000. Service was sub-par. I even resold with them for a while. I left, but went back for a small hosting deal- I had to pay in advance though, but it really-really did suck so I took him on his money back promise, never got it- after i made repeated attempts to contact him he said he would sue me for harrasing him, that he gave me the money back already. That never happened ,in all it cost me 300 dollars. and a lot of frustration. I just thought I check up on him. Funny that alot of more people have problems with him...He really let us on for a long -long time...

So just to let you know steve is at it again.
I found my domain forwarding to best-lawyer.org today and I could no longer log in anywhere.
He ignored the forwarding problem and sent me this after I asked what happened:
Jay, my sincere apologies -- early last Wednesday morning we had a catastrophic disk failure,
and the server went down and could not be saved. We are installing all new equipment
and will be setting up sites within the next 1 to 2 hours. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please reply with the exact site name and preferred user/password.
Best regards
Steve

Maybe I'm way behind here, but it appears as though most if not all of the Steve Gunnels sites are now down/dead?
Besthost1.com, Intellihosting.com, AAA-Host.com are all non-existent. Super.nu still loads, but has all kinds of bugs and oddball characters on the top.
Have we finally won? Is Steve Gunnels finally gone from webhosting relevance?
Thanks for all these added comments guys.
Yes, the "lifetime hosting" scam caught a lot of us, and looks like he did to you exactly what he did to all of us - continued 'fees', unauthorised deductions from credit cards, etc.
It's criminal to see that he's gotten away with it for Soooooo long without any punishment at all.
check out http://best-lawyer.org, that's his new gig.
And e-mail of Steve seems to be
steve@best-lawyer.org
At least this is the Paypal account you get when you click those orange buttons. It is also shown here:

I think he has started up again... at this domain
http://speedhosting.com/
Looks like another Gunnels offer on a ... free hosting!

Shock, how do you know that the hosting at speedhosting.com is Steve's?
By the way, super.nu site is still up.
